Jut Patti is a timeless classic card game played primarily in South Asian countries. The name "Jut" translates to "pair," and “patti'' means cards, so the name Jut Patti translates to card pairs, which is the basic essence of the card game. Jut Patti appeals to all age groups, making it a perfect pass time all round the year. Jut Patti is easy, and time efficient, hence a perfect little getaway from boring days. While variations of Jut Patti exist within different regions and communities, this is a general overview of how the game is commonly played:

General Terms

Number of Players: Jut Patti is typically played by 2 to 6 players.

Deck of Cards: A standard deck of 52 playing cards is used.

Joker: A “Joker” is the card that can be paired up with any of the cards in hand. The player to the right side of the dealer is asked to flip a card from the deck. The card of the same suit but a rank higher becomes the “Joker” for that round. If a 5 of Hearts is flipped, then 6 of any suits becomes the "Joker" for the game, and it  can be paired with any cards.

Objective

The objective of Jut Patti is to  form pairs  of  cards with the same rank. The pair is also called a “jut”

Gameplay:

The dealer shuffles the deck and deals each player 7 cards. Variations with 5, 9 or 11 cards exist based on the house rules. The first dealer is chosen at random but after that the player who wins the round becomes the next dealer. After the cards are dealt, the player to the dealer’s right picks a card from the remaining deck for the joker.

To begin the game, the same player picks a card from the deck and aims to match it with one from their hand. If they make a match, they discard another card from their hand.

The game goes on with players taking turns counterclockwise, trying to make pairs by picking and discarding cards. The next player can choose the previous player's discard or a new card from the deck.

The goal is to create pairs with all  cards. When a player achieves pairs for all the cards in his hand, he wins the game.

Trips and Tricks:

  1. Jokers : Make the most of Jokers strategically. They're not just cards; they're the wildcard that can turn the tide in your favor.
  2. Discard Wisely: Every discarded card is a potential gift to your opponents. Choose your discards wisely to maintain control over the pairing landscape.
